I'm the founder, owner, and piano teacher at Inspired Piano Studio. My studio is where my love of playing the piano and my love of teaching meet, and my hope is to inspire a lifelong love of music in my students.
My inspiration story.
I can't remember a time when I wasn't revelling in the sparkling sounds created by the black and white keys on my piano. Playing the piano is life-giving for me and I love playing just about every kind of music. Some of my favourite pieces are are Beethoven's Pathetique Sonata, Liszt's Liebestraum, This Is Me from The Greatest Showman, just about any worship song, and Christmas music (year-round, of course).
As a classically trained pianist through the Royal Conservatory of Musical program, I struggled for years with knowing how to let my personality and creativity shine through my playing. I loved classical music and tried to choose pieces that reflected who I was, but it wasn't until years later that I learned how to play with a freedom that unlocked a whole new level of enjoyment and creativity. I am passionate about encouraging this same freedom in my students so they too can learn how to unlock their unique creativity in their music making.
I teach to inspire.
Making music is like painting with sound. Music is bursting with creativity and overflowing with inspiration, and at the piano, fingers become paintbrushes and each musical note is a vibrant splash of colour. Just as each artist's work is unique, each piano player's musical art should be unique, and my hope is to encourage my students to discover their unique musical creativity so they learn how to infuse their personality into their playing. This is the sweet spot where inspiration happens -- when music and innate creativity are given the opportunity to blend together, revealing a world of unbridled musical and artistic potential. It's pretty magical.
